This is the third book in the series, though the book can be read as a stand-alone story. Sean and his family are vacationing in London, primarily for Sean to attend a soccer camp. He is hoping to secure a spot in the Barca youth world games competition. Sean is full of confidence.The family spends some tour touring London before the camp begins. Sean and his mother are thrilled to ride on The London Eye, but his father has a fear of heights and refuses to ride. Sean and his father ride on the London Underground, which will prove to be a problem later in the story because Sean’s dad has a poor sense of direction. A good part of the tale focuses on the soccer camp and its goal that all members work together for the benefit of the team not the objectives of individual members. Sean has difficulty accepting that premise. He has a habit of whining when he doesn’t get his way. Sean even convinces his father to get a Mohawk haircut and dye his hair blonde.Children learn about the importance of teamwork and sacrifice, but Sean’s exuberance and strong-will sometimes seem to overwhelm his parents who appear to disagree on how to handle Sean's behavior. That could become a point of discussion. This book might be considered a good chapter book choice for late elementary school and middle school students. There are color illustrations to entice reluctant readers. The US and UK editions reflect the differences in terms used to describe the game.

This wonderful series has become my go-to gift for my nine year old nephew. He is a huge sports & soccer fan, loves Sean's fun mischievous true boy energy & and is now asking his mom to go to the FC Barcelona Soccer Camp. The illustrations beautifully create the world and make you feel like you really know and care for these characters. An inspiring story for any kid who dares to dream of becoming the next soccer superstar. Parents will relate to the realistic joys and challenges, and kids will read with anticipation. An easily read adventure about a boy who loves soccer and his modern dayfamily vacation. We can't wait to see where Sean goes next!Â

This is our favorite book in the series so far! My 9 year old son and I love reading these books and following Sean's story. I especially love how the author adds the details of London such as riding the London Eye. The theme of teamwork in soccer was a great conversation starter, because my son is on a non-competitive soccer team. Just like the other books in the series, the books keep my son's attention with just the right balance of writing and illustrations. We can't wait to see where Sean goes next!

My 9 year old son is in love with these books. He read this book in about 2 days and wouldn't put it down. It's really hard to get my son to read sometimes but theses books seem to draw my sons attention. I couldn't believe how interested he was in reading. I highly recommend this book.....Perfect books for kids!

What a great book. My kids enjoyed it, and they're not even into soccer. Any kid can relate to Sean's adventures.

It is a good book for kids.

Read the book and loved it, and so did my nephew. The thing I liked the most about this book - besides the great storyline and beautiful illustrations - is the fact that there is nothing unauthentic about it. It's real, it our daily reality, and reality is not what we wish or dream for. Raising up children is not easy, and sometimes our children become spoiled and they don't act as we want them to - but this is the main reason I loved SEAN WANTS TO BE MESSI - the parents deal with it and try their best, and there is a positive message in that - deal with it, don't shy away from it, and do the best you can. by the way, I read and loved ALL THREE books.

I received a free copy of the ebook edition in exchange for an honest review.WOW! SEAN HAS GROWN UP! The whining and senseless complaining has gone as Sean goes to London to go to a summer camp. Of course it's a soccer summer camp! He is in London learning how to play soccer the Barca way (which is apparently how FC Barcelona play their game). This book focuses on teamwork and again, is written so it is appealing for younger children. It is the perfect read, once again, for kids to read on their own in grades 2nd-4th. I really enjoyed how Sean has settled down and compromised more with his family on vacation, you can tell Sean is older in this book, though they never really specify his age (in the first book he was in 2nd grade and in the 2nd book he was in 3rd grade, so one can assume possibly 4th grade). The author leaves us with a "to be continued" and I hope there is more. My son absolutely adores Sean and as he ages, I find myself enjoying more and more. The progression of his maturity is something I also discussed with my son as it is a theme throughout the books. This was the most enjoyable book to read with my son and even if you have not read the first two books, you will not miss out by just reading this one. This book is the must read in the series! ENJOY!
