About the Author

KRS ONE is a philosopher, activist, author, lecturer, and emcee. Since founding canonical Hip Hop act Boogie Down Productions in the mid-1980s, he has released a granite-solid catalog of 19 full-length albums, along with a star-studded list of collaborations. In addition to The Gospel of Hip Hop, he is the author of The Science of Rap (1995) and Ruminations (Welcome Rain, 2003). Awesome book for those who truly seek Self Realization! Explains, and confirms my life long research on my path of Endarkenment!

KRS 1 is always on point with his knowledge pertaining to the culture.

Love KRS One, love hearing him talk and lecture, this to me was just waaaaay religious for my liking. Lots of repeating himself, lots of reiterating and dramatic phrasings. I got about 100 pages into it before putting I couldn't pick it up again. Another reviewer mentioned, "There is no doubt that a lot of hip hop fans won't know what to make of this book at first. It is not a music book. It is a spiritual book". That's a good way to put it. I didn't expect it to be a music book, but I didn't expect it to mention god so many times per page. Another mentions "much more than just music. In fact the music isn't really even mentioned much" which isn't what I was expecting walking into "The Gospel of Hip Hop". I'd buy another album, but not another book.

Loved it, exactly what I wanted. It came in great shape too.

Its easy to be inspired after reading chapters in this book. KRS-ONE is puts Hip Hop and rap music in its proper perspective.

Great read! Highly recommend if you are a Hip Hop head!
