About the Author

Dr. Mary J. Ruwart is a biomedical researcher and ethicist. She holds a BS in biochemistry (1970), and a PhD in biophysics (1974) from Michigan State University. After 2 and a half years on the faculty of the Department of Surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Ruwart spent 19 years as a pharmaceutical research scientist for the Upjohn Company. She currently chairs an IRB (Institutional Review Board), consults with nutraceutical companies, and has been an expert witness against the FDA.

Great book and very revealing as to the absolute corruption on one our most controlling federal agencies.Ruwart dies a great job researching the subject and uncovers the horrendous acts by the FDA and big government in general.

Regulations, quite literally, kill people, and we've gained a fetish for regular doctors checkups over maintaining our health individually, and the FDA ensures that life saving drugs don't hit the market.Dr. Ruwart is a true scholar; each chapter is short but packs a punch, meaning there is no fluff in this book. Aside from a few personal stories that relate it all together, it's pure facts. Books like these are far and few, where you can pick it up and read for 10 minutes a day, and feel like you grasped concepts that should have taken 100 pages to explain. What amazed me about this book is the rigorous way in which Dr. Ruwart demonstrates the scope and scale of the harm caused by the FDA. This is a scholarly work that is written in an easy to understand way. The idea that the government has the authority to tell citizens what therapies they may and may not access is patently outrageous, and this book shows how such outrageous policy is killing us. This book is a must read!

Mary Ruwart uses both her extensive personal experience in the field and quality scholarly techniques to reveal how our system too often blocks rather than facilitates advances in health. Fortunately, she offers some good ideas for how to do better as well.
