As always this Insight Guide did not disappoint. Good background information and lots of great photos to stimulate ideas as to where to visit. This is not a LP or Rough Guides travel book but something that can give you deeper background, and a deeper appreciation of that place you are going to visit, rather than a "laundry list" of hostels, restaurants and the "backpacker haunts". With the Internet it's easier to search for a place to sleep than to rely on a guide book and I generally "follow my nose" to where the best food (and the longest line of locals are) is. This guide, like all Insight guides, gives you a foundation and understanding that you can't glean from paging through LP guides. Highly recommended.
Planning a trip to Indonesia - good overall but not for specific places like Bali. Too brief. I like the quality of the photographs and papers of Eyewitness guides better. The photos are more vibrant!
Great photos of Indonesia and great, brief description of Indonesian history and culture.
