Attorney Chisholm provides an outstanding and practical guide to protect you from getting chewed up and spit out by the big industry machine. Nothing is more infuriating than learning how our beloved artists got burned by their lack of knowledge and understanding avout the music business. It can be ugly and heartbreaking. Protect yourself. The cost of this book is a mere pittance for the magnificent information it provides.

I wish I read this book 3 years ago! I don't know about you but I know what I know and I have no problem paying others to handle what I don't know. This book taught me what I thought I knew about making an LLC and starting a business. Very concise and clear on the does and don't. Very glad that the author didn't beat me over the head with 500 pages of big words and circle talk. Just the facts, then the application. Perfect!

This is the perfect book for someone who is starting out in the music business. It provides the basic information you need to copyright and trademark your brand and music as well as showing best practices for artists and producers. I'm not an artist or producer (I run a hip hop blog) and I still found this book to be helpful and informational. If you know a lot about the music industry or have a business background, I recommend getting Audrey's 2nd book since 'Start Your Music Business' is a helpful beginners guide.

As a indie artist, label, and producer, I have found this book covers a great deal, I mean a GREAT DEAL of things every serious music business artist/entrepreneur needs to know. I am almost done with the book, but had to get this review in because Audrey really empowers us with the detail and the simplicity of what we must all understand and how to simply come out strong. I am not only going to apply what I have learned and re-read it all, but will tell others along the way. I jus want to say THANK YOU Audrey!

I just finished this book and it was very helpful in my understanding of the music industry. The book does a great job of detailing the different types of entities you should classify as and then providing recommendations. You do not need to have a legal background to find this book helpful. I highly recommend it.
